Banana Cream Pie Recipe

Hello Lovelies~

Ok, so I have been watching too much Food Network channel, I admit! Lol watching Adam Gertler's banana cream pie over and over again made me wanna eat banana cream pie! Haha

I don't know what's in Bandera's Banana Cream Pie, so I improvised. Here's what I did:

Ingredients for graham pie-base:
Some graham crackers
Melted butter

Put the Crackers in food processor and blend till sandy texture. Add in melted butter as much as needed to form the right consistency. Not too soft, workable into pie dish.
Blind bake the crust and let cool.

Ingredients for custard:
2c Milk
1/3 c Flour
3 Egg yolk
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 c sugar
2 tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla extract

Heat up milk with (flour, salt, sugar). When simmering, take some of the milk mixture and add into beaten egg yolks to temper it. Then mix all of it into the pot.

Chop up some bananas and lay them inside the baked pie crust.

Rough chop some chocs you have laying around ;') and scatter them around d bananas~

pour the custard made earlier~

slice some extra bananas on top.

lastly, pipe some whipped cream on top. sorry bout my ugly piping. first tyme! ;'D

ENJOY!

Unexpected Surprise for Each plus Recipe for Petit Prawn Cakes

Hello lovelies~

Tonight, I after arriving from my parents house, I tot I wanted to make sth special for hubby to eat for supper. (he's away playing Futsal ;') so I found some daily ingredients that every household I know will have them in hand. I decided to make Petit Prawn Cakes!

What you need: (this will be a rough guide because this is my own creation, I did not follow any recipe)

12 med sized prawns (seasoned and cooked)

A handful of coriander leaves

About 2 tbsp mayonnaise
1 egg
Breadcrumbs (as much as needed)
Dash of Garlic powder
Salt and pepper

There. Finish! Lol! Kidding. :'D

1) place prawns and coriander leaves in food processor. Pulse til they're blended but not too fine or paste-like. I prefer to have some chunk
s for texture.
2) take out mixture, transfer into a mixing bowl (fold in by hand) add in mayo, egg and garlic powder.
3) bit by bit, mix in the breadcrumbs until u get a consistency that you can make a mini patty out of. Not too much though, because they would then be less meat to crumbs ratio. That's not as yumm! Trust me. ;')
4) now you're ready to fry on shallow
oil. Since the prawns were already cooked, you just need to fry them til golden brown. Then voila! Yummmmmmmmmmmmeyh!

delish!

*the coriander leaves adds oriental taste to it. If you don't want that, you can opt w dill.

We ate the prawn cakes together. But hubby
suggested that we should grate some cheese on to them. Haha like we don't already have unhealthy bodies! So, voila! Petit Prawn Cakes w grated parmesan and cheddar!

with grated cheese!

We dipped them in Siracha hot chilli sauce which was heaven!

surprise dessert!!

Hubby then surprised me with a box of 4 mini cuppies from wondermilk! Wheeeeee~ supper w dessert! Loved it! And definitely love him!!

Twist on Giada's Spinach Arugula Pesto Pasta

Greetings Lovelies!
Guess what was inside this once full serving bowl? ;')

Had a great day today as hubby surprised me w a recipe that I myself wanted to try since I saw it on Giada at Home on food network. Giada's version was Fusili Spinach Arugula Pesto. Here's a link for the original recipe :

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/fusilli-with-spicy-pesto-recipe/index.html

Hubbs used spinach and arugula for the pesto as well. The walnuts too. Here in Malaysia, it's hard to find fresh jalapeƱo. We only have the pickled ones in our grocery stores. So we opted w

What he did different was:

Jalapeno with local cili padi (birds eye chilli)
Fusilli with Spaghetti

Asiago Cheese with Parmesan Cheese
Topped with Juicy Grilled Chicken and Cherry Tomatoes

Voila!

upclose :')

Have fun trying all!

Din Dins Served!

hello Lovelies!

It's the tyme for my family potluck again~ well me n hubbs tot we would make a mashed potato dish. Inspired from our anniversary dinner in 2011 (Tioman Island' s Berjaya Resort). Its our rendition of the potato walnut balls. So we making "Purple Mash w Walnuts". It is absolutely gorgeous n yummilicious!

What you need :

12 purple potatoes (boiled)
1 tbsp butter
1/4 c milk or cream
Salt + pepper (a must have seasoning)
As needed roasted walnuts (chopped)
Parsley for garnish

Mash the boiled potatoes using a fork. No need to make it smooth. The rough texture adds character. ;')

Then, add in the butter, mix. Followed by the milk or cream whichever you have left in the fridge! Season w salt and pepper, let ur taste buds lead you to perfection! Fold in the chopped walnuts.

Serve in your fanciest bowl! Mummy's was a "sampan" shaped one! Hihi garnish with parsley leaves. Love the color contrast!

My other siblings made the Rosemary and Thyme Crusted Chicken Chop, Ceaser Salad, Mushroom Gravy.

It was a great potluck yet again! Yummy tummy!
happy trying~

Hawaiian BIrthday Party Prep #1

Hello Lovelies! TGIF! the weekend is near~ wooohoo!

My nephew, Daniel's birthday is nearing. 9th Feb. February is me n hubby's turn to host our family potluck. So, i tot why not double our potluck w his birthday celebration and the potluck. n oh, it's my birthday too! hihi 8th feb! :')

So i was wondering what theme to do the party as. usually its the simple balloons and poppers. but this tyme i tot i wanna do a theme. after searching suggestions on the net, i laid my eyes on a link on Hawaiian Style Birthdays. and i'm hooked!

when i tink of Hawaiian deco, the Lei popped into mind. So i searched around my area for ready-made leis.. i found two types, plastic flower leis, RM5 for one. and
a better looking plastic flower leis for RM7.90. So i calculated the cost for having 23 guests (23x5= RM115) just for plasticky leis. SIGH!

Then i took initiative to search the web on how to make lei
s. thankfully i found this!
http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-make-Crepe-Paper-Leis/step8/Finished-lei/
it's a step by step how to on making leis from crepe paper! cool
right!

- here's what i used: lime green thread, just for the heck of it, needle, strips of crepe paper and oh, the flowers made from foam sheet isnt in this pic. see below! -

I bought 16 piece of crepe paper and RM0.60 for each and 2 rolls of foam sheet for RM13.80. a total of RM23.40 and in the end, i got around 15 leis~ whee gonna stop by the shop to stock up more to finish off the balance~

Whee~ what do u guys think? i reckon they are a beaut! and not to mention CHEAP! ;') happy trying folks! i'll update on the party prep soon~
