Hawaiian BIrthday Party Prep #1

Hello Lovelies! TGIF! the weekend is near~ wooohoo!

My nephew, Daniel's birthday is nearing. 9th Feb. February is me n hubby's turn to host our family potluck. So, i tot why not double our potluck w his birthday celebration and the potluck. n oh, it's my birthday too! hihi 8th feb! :')

So i was wondering what theme to do the party as. usually its the simple balloons and poppers. but this tyme i tot i wanna do a theme. after searching suggestions on the net, i laid my eyes on a link on Hawaiian Style Birthdays. and i'm hooked!

when i tink of Hawaiian deco, the Lei popped into mind. So i searched around my area for ready-made leis.. i found two types, plastic flower leis, RM5 for one. and
a better looking plastic flower leis for RM7.90. So i calculated the cost for having 23 guests (23x5= RM115) just for plasticky leis. SIGH!

Then i took initiative to search the web on how to make lei
s. thankfully i found this!
http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-make-Crepe-Paper-Leis/step8/Finished-lei/
it's a step by step how to on making leis from crepe paper! cool
right!

- here's what i used: lime green thread, just for the heck of it, needle, strips of crepe paper and oh, the flowers made from foam sheet isnt in this pic. see below! -

I bought 16 piece of crepe paper and RM0.60 for each and 2 rolls of foam sheet for RM13.80. a total of RM23.40 and in the end, i got around 15 leis~ whee gonna stop by the shop to stock up more to finish off the balance~

Whee~ what do u guys think? i reckon they are a beaut! and not to mention CHEAP! ;') happy trying folks! i'll update on the party prep soon~

Almond Tarts Anyone? :')

Hey lovelies~

Ok, I made this particular recipe w my SIL some tyme ago. I reckon i shud share the recipe cuz the tarts were awesome!

Start with Sweet Pastry Dough, So here's what you need:

1000g cookie flour
600g butter (cold)
10g salt
250g icing sugar
200g eggs (M size to be safe ;') )

i knoe it seems like a lot of flour, but you can make a lot of tart shells and freeze them to use in the future! less work then~ ;') - jus
wrap em in foil or freezer bags after they're par baked-

How to:
1) Mix flour, butter and salt in mixer until mixture is all crumbly or sandy.
2) Add icing sugar and knead for about 1 min. Whisk in eggs bit by bit until desired consistency.
3) Keep in the fridge, cover w cling wrap to relax d dough. (at th
e sa
me tyme, gluten growth is retarded! )
4) Then incorporate the dough using the palm of ur hand instead of fingers.
5) Roll into about say, 0.3mm and flip it on to tart moulds and press lightly inside the mould. Then take off the excess on the sides.
6) Let chill in the fridge for about 5-10mins before baking.

Moving on to the Almond Filling, so here's what you need:

100g butter (room temp)
100g sugar
4g salt (about 2 pinches)
2 eggs
100g almond meal/powder
sliced almonds for garnish

How to: (Oven 180 celcius)
1) Place soft butter and sugar into mixer til lighten in color.
2)Add eggs and mix at a slower speed. Mix in salt as well.
3) Add almond meal but careful not to overmix. It's better to manually fold them in.
4) Put the almond filling into the tart. And garnish with slices of alm
ond.
5) Bake for approx 30min.

Voila!!

They were delish!! and the cuppies were apple oat crumble. I shall write the recipe for that one in another entry ok?

thank you so very much sayangku!!

happy 2012 all!

sorry been a while!! :'D

So, i hope everyone had a great new year. And have a wonderful and prosperous CNY! Drive carefully, n please try not to eat shark fin soup! ;')

So, this year, 2012, I am going to be 26 y/o! and one thing ive heard recently was, a person should start using "anti-ageing" skin care products. Well, actually i heard that somewhere mid 2011. But i must say, i procrastinated. my bad. LOL

SO, i did some research on which product should i use. and i came the conclusion that ANTI-AGEING products = YVES ROCHER.

So i went to the shop nearest my place, and asked for the best product they have.

Yves Rocher ELIXIR 7.9
it has 7 active ingredients (plant derived) 9 patents i tink. apprently one 15ml bottle lasts u a month. n u need 28 days to see results. i have been using mine for almost a week now. so far so good. no visible change yet. :'D bt i hev faith hehe

i got the small bottle to test it out. 15ml for rm160 i tink. and the applicator helps to get drops for each application.

so i'll let you guys know the results soon! x

Baked Pasta, Avsolut Style

I.N.G.R.E.D.I.E.N.T.S

Pasta (boiled earlier, al dente)
Sausages (boiled and diced)

1 c Beef Stock (Homemade by Hubby)
Carrots, Peas, Corn Kernels
2 cloves of garlic
1/2 of holland onion
Coriander
Curry Leaves
4 Eggs
2 c cream
1/2 c cheese of your choice

  • Start off with saute the onion, garlic and carrots, peas and corn with curry leaves. Then add on the diced sausages. Let cool.

  • In another mixing bowl, add the stock, whipped eggs and cream. season with little salt or none, cuz we're gonna add cheese.

  • Add pasta and the sauteed mix into the egg mix. Lastly add chopped coriander leaves.

  • Then pour the mixture into individual muffin pan lined with baking sheet ( to make it easier to take out ) or you can pour the whole mixture into a square baking dish/casserole dish.
Like so.....

Bake at 200รง til it golden brown ( you can poke with toothpick too, if it comes out clean, then its ready )
Tadaaaa~

The last 10mins, grate cheese on top and grill away til nicely golden brown. :')

enjoy!
